Happy Saturday! Today I am sharing my Weekend Wishes, which basically is a list of things I am truly hoping to accomplish this weekend. Weekends always seem like a blur so having a “punch list” to work from helps me stay on task. This weekend is going to be packed full because it’s a long weekend that includes celebration and observance of Memorial Day. Now on to my Weekend Wishes:Gardening & More, I can’t wait to tell you my big weekend plans!
1|Cleaning the pool
I am so ready to start enjoying the pool. It’s been in the high 90s already here and enjoying a dip in the pool to cool off is much appreciated. Getting the pool ready each spring is a task that’s well worth it. Friday afternoon I removed all the leaves and added a bit of clarifier. Then put in my favorite robot vacuum from Doheny. I love this robot because it gets the bottom clean and doesn’t waste water.
2|Grocery Shopping
I personally am a big promoter to shop locally. I love shopping at local farmer’s markets. My Saturday morning is set to run to a local shop named Pittman’s where you can find so many wonderful things. Ever heard of Vidalia Onions? Well this is where you can get them. Trust me don’t buy Sweet onions from your local grocery store, because they are nothing like these Sweet Vidalia Onions that grow here locally. You can order online and they will ship you some. It’s a great gift idea as well.
3|Gardening
Earlier this year I started my vegetable garden with hopes to help my family eat more fruits and organic vegetables. I’ve grown organic lemons and a few vegetables for years and was looking forward to growing more things. Eating vegetables and fruit you have grown is quite the accomplishment. Throughout Covid, I’ve learned so much about living healthier with eating organic vegetables. I have a close family member going through health issues which has prompted me to try a new healthier food path. This weekend, I needed to pick a few things to thing out my garden to grow more and to re-pot one of my tomato plants. I am planning to take some of my family some fresh organic harvesting leafy lettuce. So far the garden is growing splendidly.
4|Pool Day with a cookout
What pool day is really a pool day without having a cookout? Especially a Low Country Boil, Low Country Boil is a tradition for Memorial Day in my family. Fresh shrimp from the docks paired with fresh corn, Lee’s sausage, potatoes, and special seasoning creates a total delicious masterpiece. Working on a tan and enjoying great food with great people sounds like a great way to wrap up the weekend. Spending time with family is precious and especially on Memorial Day reminds me of how fortunate I am in life.
Thanks for joining me for my Weekend Update. What are your weekend plans? How are you spending your Memorial Day?
