Hello and Welcome back! I know I’ve been very quite around the blogosphere, but it really that I’ve been more busy since Covid-19 struck the country. It’s affected so many people, granted I’ve had my patience tested, but I’ve been very lucky compared to others. There a few things that have made this easier for me to handle. I wanted to share this with all of you due to I feel we may experience this once again.

1| Grocery Pick-up Services have been a constant in my life over the past few months. I have absolutely refused to to go in any store. I’ve found even when you have protective masks on there are people out there that do not respect social distancing. This has led me to traveling 45 mins to the nearest Kroger which has a very busy pick-up program. Recently my local Wal-mart finally opened up their pick-up and delivery program. The pickup program was by far the best I’ve used. I am so thankful to have these options local to me.
2|Shopping local farms has also become a normal regiment. There have been food shortages in grocery stores so finding local farms that sell produce and meat markets played a large role in keeping my pantry stocked while waiting for local grocery stores to restock during food shortages. Summertime is traditionally canning season for me, and I’ve found everyone seems to now be on this bandwagon making canning jars super hard to find. Lucky for me I did find a small stock to can tomatoes. On another note, finding toilet paper hasn’t been easy if you know where to look. Most flock to major grocery stores, where as I shopped at local drugstores and the dollar store. I was able to find what I needed. I think a big part is that there were not many hoarding these essential products.
3|Utilizing subscription services such as Hello Fresh, Misfit Market(use code COOKWME-BO8DPO), and Daily Harvest(use code RE-VA4YK3D) have all helped keep easy meals and fresh produce readily available in my pantry and fridge. I’ve been enjoying 2-3 Hello Fresh meals a week and then choosing fruits and vegetables from Misfit Market to fill in the items I’ve had a harder time finding. I love enjoying quick and easy meals due to work has been super hectic. It’s a game of playing catch up and preparing for the busy season. I’ve also enjoyed breakfast and snack smoothies in the 90s temperature days. It’s been hot and drinking a smoothie has become one of my favorite things to do.
4|Personal Protective Equipment and washing your hands are some of the best preventative measures I’ve found have worked in my area. Though hard to find there are some great masks you can purchase online or maybe someone local is making them? I know a local crafty person that helped keep our locals stocked with PPE. Just make sure if you buy a mask someone made, that they are made correctly per guidelines to provide protection.
5|Social distancing works and so does working from home. I find there are so many in the industry that didn’t know how this would work. Well it seems 3 months later most have it figured out for the most part. I know it’s been quite the adjustment, but I rather enjoyed working from home. It did get old and I was thankful to reopen my office. However, I encourage you to be respectful to others and keep doing social distancing.
Stay safe and keep social distancing. We will get through this modern epidemic. How have you made it through this epidemic? What’s worked for you? Any working from home tips?
