Happy Thursday! How has life been treating you? I know I have slacked on my posting schedule but I am hoping that will all pick up soon! I have undertaken a big adventure of becoming a Presenter for Younique. I can’t wait to talk more about this in future posts and give you some insight into the brand. If you would like access to the Facebook group just comment down below! So look forward to make posts to come. Moving on to today’s post!
Finding high quality eye shadows can be difficult, but in recent history you can find them online with a few brands I would call affordable. Colour Pop recent released pressed shadows that are really inexpensive. Considering the price the quality of the shadows comes into question. Well in a recent Colour Pop order I decided to pick up a few shadows and have thoroughly tested them out and am ready to dish on the quality and if they are worth the price!
I picked up the Hi-Maintenance kit that contains 4 shadows. I also picked up 4 individual shadows to test out in the shades: Popular Demand, Top Notch, Bel Air, and Going Steady. All of the pressed shadows retail for $5.
Popular Demand-Rich dark brown with warm reddish undertones. Mostly matte to slightly satin finish.
Top Notch-Deep reddish warm brown with a matte finish. Creamy even finish.
Bel Air-Subtle medium brown with warm undertones and matte finish.
Going Steady-Intense dark berry with cool tones and a satin finish. This shade is really buildable to increase opaqueness.
Hi-Maintenance Limited Edition and retails for $18 and comes with .02 oz of product.
Just in Time-Warm gold with frost finish. This is a permanent shade and retails for $5
High Strung-Warm brown with a frost finish. This shade is permanent and retails for $5
Get Out-Warm Red with a creamy matte finish. This shade is permanent and retails for $5
Cute Alert-Warm brown with a creamy matte finish. This shade is permanent and retails for $5
Overall the shades are gorgeous and pigmented. I typically hone in on matte shades because typically those tell the tale of if the shadows are hot or not. All shimmers and mattes are pigmented, longwearing, super creamy and really great quality for the price. These shades are nothing special as some compare closely to shadows from other brands. These shades are super buttery, especially the mattes which says a lot about this brand.
I do have 2 issues with these shadows. There is a ton of kickback when you tap your brush in the pans. Also if you aren’t careful to knock off any excess then you will end up with a mess on your face. Overall these are not big deals to me, and I would really recommend these shadows.
Have you tried any Colour Pop shadows? Which are your favorites?
