I see tons of Beauty Gurus talk about the cosmetic brand Juvias. There are continuous reviews that show that this brand is amazing and one that you need to try. I personally purchased my “The Nubian Eye Shadow palette” after watching NikkiTutorials talk about it. I didn’t realize this company has so many, but I picked one that truly speaks to my love of neutrals and a metallic shadows. I also am a bit obsessed with Egyptian history so the packing on this palette was amazing to me.
The texture of these shadows is truly amazing for the price. I was able to get this palette with a promo code for around $27. The swatch test was great and I was super enthusiastic about this palette. However, if you are familiar with swatch test occasionally being different than wear test then you will completely understand what I am saying in this review.
The quality of shadows differs between mattes and metallic/foiled shadows. The foiled shadows are super creamy and when applied seems like my brush was already spritzed with MAC Fix+. The color payoff is great. There are some really bold foiled shadows in this palette that are perfect for fall.
However, as the foiled shadows were amazing I find that the matte and/or satin shades were hit and miss. From how well this palette swatched I was truly expecting greatness. After creating many looks I found myself a bit disappointed in these shades. They were just not as pigmented as I hoped they would be and I found they blended together too much were they just looked like the same color. Don’t get me wrong I was able to create some really gorgeous looks, but it does take some patience working with the shadows. Are they unique? This palette consists of shades that are not super unique. In my collection I have some Makeup Geek and Morphe 350 shades that are similar.
Would I buy this again or recommend it? Saying all the above I am not hating on this palate. Like all palettes there are hits and misses. I continue to use this palette a few times a week and pull in shades from other brands. I think this palette is perfect if you are okay with bringing along a few extra shades. Overall I do really like this palette and recommend it. The only thing I with this palette included was a black, but that’s not so bad. However due to the performance and texture of this palette I would give it a solid B.
What are your thoughts on this palette? Don’t you just love the packaging? What is your favorite palette? Have a favorite from Juvia’s?
