I admit that I completely have too many makeup brushes. Granted mostly this is due to my side business as a makeup artist. I deep clean all my brushes used on clients after every use, but I am a bit more lax with brushes I use on myself. If you face washing many brushes, you are in need of these brush-washing gadgets! I do spot clean with my MAC brush cleaner but after a while brushes need a deep clean. I tend to rotate use and then once they are all dirty I do a complete brush washing adventure. The truth be known washing 100+ makeup brushes is quite the task. Anything that can shorten the time of this process is worth it in my book. My process is pretty cut and dry and seems to be effective at washing them thoroughly and drying them in a manner that preserves the shape of the brushes.
My quick & easy brush washing system is due to having some amazing tools. There are two parts to any brush washing system: the actual washing of the brushes and the drying process. For washing my brushes I find the Spa Brush Cleaning Mat. I have used the spa glove and honestly I love it but really prefer using the mat. It is so easy to swirl your brush around on the mat with some Dawn dish washing liquid (my go-to brush cleaner) and get all the set in makeup out. There are different textures to clean a multitude of brushes such foundation brushes to eye brushes. I find foundation brushes to be the most difficult to get clean and I simply can’t go with out using the cleaning mat.
Next it’s time to dry the newly clean brushes. Drying some brushes can be such a hassle. I will never forget my first Chanel brush washing experience. I was so upset when I saw the brush hairs fray out and become unshapely. Needless to say when you spend that much on a brush it is a complete nightmare when it doesn’t hold it’s shape. I find this can be the case the many brushes and well when I buy high-end brushes I would like them to last a long time. This is where the Dry And Shape comes in handy.
As I wash my brushes I go ahead and slide them through the brush guard and clip them in. In the past drying bulky brushes had taken what seemed like forever. Well using the Dry and Shape you hang the brushes upside down and they really dry so much faster.
Both the Cleaning mat and the Dry & Shape are so worth every penny! I have used this system as my brush cleaning process for a few months and I love it. It saves me so much time and aggravation.
