Happy Monday! How was the weekend? Well for Superbowl weekend not bad. I picked a team that was picked to win but, did not win. I was still happy that Manning played a great game and sad it seems it may be his last. The end of the game posed one huge question, Will Manning play again or is this the end?
Valentine’s day is just around the corner and I have been trying all kinds of new products! I find you never know when you may have a Valentine’s date, so it is great to have looks already planned out. These are products I picked up in the month of January from ULTA.
Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick #5 Nude Thrill & #10 Nude Flush
This are in now way a matte formula that we often think of. The feel of these is moisturizing and does not set as a matte as other brands such as Anastasia Beverly Hills lipsticks. These are more of a matte cream lipstick due to their creamy consistency. These shades are really pretty nudes!
Maybelline Dream Velvet foundation in 60 Sandy Beige
First of all, this product is super thick. I highly suggest using a beauty blender to apply this product. This foundation claims to be a soft matte hydrating foundation. I feel this does go on as a soft matte and is rather hydrating, but for a foundation to claim it is matte makes me think it should hold up better on oily skin right? Wrong. This foundation honestly, slides around on my face like no other.
Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in Sand
This foundation claims to be undetectable and proves to be just that. I truly love this foundation on myself and I use it on clients. I find it looks like my skin, but better. It has a great amount of coverage without looks cakey. I highly recommend you try this foundation.
L’oreal Infallible Pro Matte Gloss in #314 Nude Allude & #318 Bare Attraction
These go on like a thicker lip gloss. Oddly, enough these set as a semi-matte but don’t wear as long as a lipstick. This product has a small detectible fragrance, so if you are super sensitive to smells you may not like it. I truly love the applicator on this product and how pigmented it is. In the shades I picked up I found them to only take on coat to completely. This product does have a small numbing feeling, but nothing too extreme. I also feel this somewhat plumps my lips, which may be due to the numbing feeling. Overall, I really like these!
Benefit The Porefessional Matte Rescue
This is a new product from Benefit geared to aid in battling oil. As an oily girl, time this launched I knew I had to try it. I am so excited to have this in my collection and I find I use it daily. The only product I can compare it to is the First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Oil-free Mattifying Gel. They have the same claims, I just so far find the one from Benefit works a bit better on my skin.
L’oreal True Match Lumi Cushion foundation in N2
This foundation is unique as it is one of the cushion foundations. What is appauling is the price. This product is really the price of a high-end foundation, which is rather disturbing. It contains .51 oz of product and costs around $16.99. Now take that price and double it and the product size, which is what you typically pay for a high-end 1 oz foundation. I suggest searching for coupons to try this one out.
L’oreal Colour Rich Eye Shadow in #208 Violet Beaute & #201 Little Beige Dress
Lastly, I picked up another new product from L’oreal, the colour riche line of eye shadow. Now as a disclaimer, I am a bit skeptical of drugstore eye shadows and picked up two to try. What I can say about these is that the texture is on point, but the pigmentation is not there. For instance, Violet Beaute looks like it will be a gorgeous purple with gold flecks. These are not worth it in my opinion, at the price point I would recommend makeup geek over these any day. Little Beige dress is the color of my lid, so I am able to use it to set over my MAC paint pot. It is working great for this purpose.
