How was your weekend? Mine was pretty relaxed as I am fighting a cold. Yes, I am asking this on a Wednesday due to my blog being down for days. In fact my blog was down most of Sunday and I do apologize for this. It seems the hosting company I use experienced hackers attacking which is why they took down my site. I can’t believe that people can be so cruel, but regardless I just wanted to offer an explanation and apology for any of use that experienced difficulty in reading my blog this weekend. Now on to top’s post!
The Balm’s Shady Lady (Special Edition) is a very pretty palette. The design is a thin magnetic packaging that makes it easy to store. If you have any of their palettes then you will be familiar with the packaging on this one. I’ve had this in my collection for a few months and recently took it out to play around with it to make more looks. I find these shades all have a satin to shimmer formula. Do I see this as a palette that is stand alone, being that I could take this along on a trip and use it solely to complete an eye look? Not really. I tend to like matte shades for my crease and to build up intensity in the outer corner. I find taking shimmer up into the crease can be not so flattering on myself.
As far as pigmentation these shades are really nice and easy to blend. I tend to reach for lid colors from this palette to pair with other shades. So let’s take a look at some swatches of this palette. Swatches will be shown in columns from top to bottom.
I will say that when you put your brush in the shades they kick up a ton of powder. So you will need to make sure that you tap off your brush before going in with the shades. I also recommend doing your eye makeup first then foundation to prevent fallout from getting all over your freshly applied foundation. Regardless how much I tapped off I always saw fallout with this palette. Overall this is a really pretty palette. Is it a must have? Not really. For those that have smaller collections, you will find this palette useful. However, for those like myself who have large collections may find this to be not that unique. Regardless, this palette has some really pretty shades and I am glad to have it in my collection. I find this one is super handy to have around for those “one and done” kind of mornings.
