Happy is not only a feeling but also is the name of a dog that we rescued! About 5 years ago my mom called me frantically telling me someone had dumped this dog out and it was starving and pregnant. Well I was raised to help all every creature. I have always had tons of animals, primarily dogs. What made this one different is that she had been abused, dumped out, and left for dead. Of course having the loving mother I do, she took in the dog and fed her. I remember so clearly coming home the first time since she came into our lives, having my mom caution me that we didn’t know what this dog would do yet and for me to be careful. I will say that she is not the nicest looking dog. She often does show her teeth, which we later figured out was her way of smiling. I literally pulled up the in yard that day and called out “Come here Happy girl” in the sweetest voice. She came running up to me tag wagging back and forth and I knew in that moment she would be part of my heart. Meet Happy.
She is the sweetest dog ever. I grew up having tons of different animals, but this one in particular just makes me melt. I am so partial to animals, but especially dogs. She is a yard dog, but mainly because she loves swimming in our pond and it would be such a shame to keep her from enjoying this luxury. The main point I want to make everyone mindful of is that she does look a tad but ferocious, but is really the sweetest dog ever. Don’t be too quick to judge a book by it’s cover, moreover a dog that looks like this one. The ones you fear may end up being part of the family. We still have to work with Happy to get her past the hard years of abuse that she faced prior to coming to my house. I hope you all see that what you do to animals does effect them greatly.Throughout the years I have seen the most horrific sights that have been caused by abuse. I hope this post raises awareness on rescuing abused animals. Just remember there is never a reason to commit such an atrocity.
Some of you may already be familiar with Happy through my Instagram account. However you won’t see many pictures of this beautiful dog due to how shy she is in real life. Can you imagine that to get this picture I had to stand half a football field away with a zoom lens to capture this beauty? She is one that wants to wallow all over me, but is very camera shy. Do you have a rescued animal? What are your plans for the weekend! The vacation countdown has started! This time next week I will be on vacation!
