Notice anything new? Well yes after a few years of having the same design I bit the bullet and went for it. I was shopping on creative market and saw all the fonts and textures that caused me to get tons of inspiration to redesign my blog. It is a known fact I love all things glitter, but I also love turquoise due to it being one of my sorority colors. I have wanted a new design that just pops, and well I feel I finally have one installed that makes me happy. I totally believe in designing your own blog. Yes it takes time and practice but it can be truly worth it. Wondering what programs or sites I use to make the design?
Before starting I always recommend getting yourself a cup of coffee or glass bottle of wine. Know that this will be a very exhausting and frustrating task if you are someone like myself that is picky and a perfectionist. This will be a tedious process, but don’t give up. This is what I used to create this design!
Photoshop is very beneficial tool for bloggers. Yes this is one is so confusing and complex, but if you can get the basics then you can really make this program work for you! I love that you can easily make parts transparent and layer objects like you see in my header on top of each other to make a unique and polished looking design. I typically use PS for anything when it comes to design. I do create magazine ads so a program like this is a must.
Bundles and bundles of any design element you can imagine to use for design. They have everything broken down in to categories to minimize the amount of time you will spend looking for items. They sell anything from fonts to textures. I find the most beautiful designs that you can use for design purchases. They also run promo codes for discounts making the great deals even sweeter. This site is definitely one to check out when designing anything!
Design Cuts sells tons of huge deals! They group together and sell very cheap massive amounts of patterns, textures, mockup images, and fonts. I mean these are amazing deals for what you get! The only thing is I recommend subscribing so they send you emails. They run sells for short periods of time and when they are gone they don’t come back for a while. However, in the event that you miss out they have great people working there that assist you with notifications for when they come back. I know this from personal experience.
4| Design Seeds
Design seeds is the basis for every design. If you ever wondered how someone put together great color combinations then this is most likely what they used. You can search endless amount of time and through many combinations to find what works for you. I often look at the images associated with the colors and use that as inspiration for design. I often search for one color and then pull all color combinations that incorporate that color. This site is super helpful and helping you picking colors for design.
We all need sites that hosts images for us to use for buttons and much more dealing with codes. I have personally used Photobucket since starting this blog over 3 years ago. Pretty much all my images are hosted there that need to stay live to use for my design. The great things about Photobucket is that you are able to get direct links to use when creating codes. I have so much faith in this site. Not once in 3 years has it failed me!
Yes, this can be quite the daunting task, but is possible. The main portion of the design process is taking your thoughts and using the tools above to make them come to life. I spend endless time switching fonts around and changing their color to make it perfect. It takes time, but with a little patience all is possible. If all else fails just google it. I do a ton of searching on google for code help.
I hope this helps if you are looking for tips in building your own blog design! Hope you had a great weekend!
