Eek! Can I tell you guys I am so excited! I have not been on vacation in a few years, because let’s face it the past few years have been quite hectic! This time my family decided to take a trip further south, instead of the north. After our last vacation to the mountains of TN a few years back, I was not sure we were even going to make it due facing so many close calls on our way there. For instance, being on the interstate and a trailer loosing a wheel causing the truck to flip across lanes towards us. Yeah, this was so not fun. Talk about a situation where you can see your life flash before your eyes.
This time I coaxed my family into heading to a beach venue. Normally we go to the mountains instead of the beach due to having a house located so close to the coast. Let’s face it when you can get to the beach in 30 mins, you tend to want some different scenery. This time we are only able to go for 3 days, sad I know! However, due to my mom starting this thriving business not even a year ago we are all too busy to take too much time off.
Growing up we always stuck to the Atlantic coast, however in college I spent most my trips on the gulf side. If you have ever seen the pretty white beaches and water that you can almost see straight through then you know how addictive it can be. My mom has never seen the Gulf side and after much time convincing her, we planned a vacation to Sanibel Island, FL. Yes, this is going to be a long drive. However, after Jess told me about this place I knew that I had to see it for myself!
What does Sanibel have to offer? Rich history, beautiful beaches, and seashells! What more could one ask for? I am a bit of a sucker for pirate history and Sanibel is full of it. Who knows as I am unearthing some amazing seashells, I may just stumble across some treasure! I am starting all the packing tonight and am making a list of things to bring. One can never have enough sunscreen! Sanibel Island is well-known for seashells too! I plan on starting quite the collection! I am so praying for nice weather to get a bit of a tan!
All that said, all that is left to do is pick restaurants to try and places to see on the island! Have you been to Sanibel Island, FL? I would love to know where to eat, shop and visit while I am there! Leave any recommendation below!
