Continuing with Review Week here on the blog, today I want to share something from the drugstore that I love. Drugstore eye shadows are not something that end up as favorites in my collection typically. However, a few months ago I discovered the L’oreal Infallible shadows and simply fell in love. I find that I am continuously disappointed by drugstore shadows to the point that I rarely buy them anymore. That being said the only drugstore shadows that I have been buying all come from the same brand. I actually compare the quality of these to some Armani single eye shadows. I seriously have picked up a few different shades every time I am shopping at CVS. I love that besides the regular line of these, they are constantly releasing new shades.
I seriously find that I am consistently impressed by every shade in this line. Let’s get this straight though if you have been following me for a while now you know that if I am raving about something drugstore then it is truly amazing. Today I want to quickly show you a few shades that are among my favorite from this line.
From Left to Right: Continuous Cocoa, Golden Sage, Bottomless Java, and Silver Sky.
Continuous Cocoa is the most rich dark brown that I find is great for deepening the outer v. If you are looking for a shade to deepen the outer v or just add drama to your eye look. I find that this is a great alternative for using black, if you want to avoid applying a harsh black. This is also a very velvet feeling shade, but I find that I do not get tons of fallout when using it. You can build this shadow up to be very dark, which I find is great for those just starting out with makeup.
Golden Sage is a more of an old gold with a sage colored green pigment. This shade is simply gorgeous! I love the metallic finish of this shade and find that it looks great on all eye colors. I find that this shade is so unique and that is mainly what drew me to this shade. I am not sure if this is a permanent shade or not due to picking it up when their spring line was released.
Bottomless Java. What can I say other than “simply gorgeous.” This shade is more of a rich golden brown that I just never seem to get enough of. This shade is just one that I just marvel at every time I open my makeup drawer. I find that this shade in particular is very versatile and can be used to great the most sultry looks.
Silver Sky is just for a lack of words “Beautiful.” I actually do not use this shade mainly as a lid shade, I find that it is a great shade to use as a pop of “bling” on top of any shadow. You can use it for just about anything, but I particular love using it in the center of my eye lid. I find that it just catches the light and adds an entire new dimension to my look. I will say that I prefer using my finger to tap on this color due to how glittery it is to start with. This makes sure that I don’t have this metallic glittery color all over my face. I have used it wet, dry and depending on what intensity you wish to achieve you can do so. I love this color and find it to be the most versatile.
Overall I recommend trying any of the shades from this line. I think they are worth every penny and are very comparable to high-end shadows. These shadows have a texture like no other. They are not simply a shadow, I feel that they are more like a pressed loose pigment. I know that may not make sense, but trust me when you get one of these you will completely understand my reasoning behind that description. What are your favorite shades?
