Sometimes in my monthly Ipsy subscription I get products that I fall in love with. A few months back when I peaked inside my Ipsy bag and found that it included a product from Cover FX I was ecstatic. I personally battle with oily skin and blemishes. Yeah, I know this sounds like loads of fun. Living in the deep South and having this horrible combination of skin I admit that finding products that combat these issues is simply amazing. I do not like to look like a grease slick so finding the right combination of products can be quite the grueling task. Needless to say when I saw the Cover FX Mattifying Primer with Anti-Acne Treatment I was more than intrigued. This intrigues me in particular since this is a brand that Sephora carries. I love finding products in these bags that I can get at major stores, so ordering them in the future is not such a hassle.
This product claims to give skin an instant healthy matte look plus it extends the wear of foundation, penetrates pores to help reduce acne. Sounds great right? That’s if this product lives up to expectations. I must say that I always use the Benefit Porefessional in places where I have larger pores, but I have been using this on the rest of my face for a few months now. First impressions I did not feel that this did much for my face. I admit I have accepted that I will always get oily looking and I can’t expect products to perform miracles. However, after extended use I have notices that my blemishes did clear up and were not reappearing as much. I had not switched out any products during this time, so I fully feel this was directly related to the use of this primer.
The primer is a clear and silicone consistency. I find that you only need a small amount of product to do my face, and so I recommend that you only use a small amount and then add more if you feel you need it. This product does not dry out my face, nor does it make me super unnaturally matte. I personally like that it allows my skin to look like skin, without making me super matte. Overall I really like this face primer and recommend checking it out if you feel you have similar skin issues.
