When is it time to let a product go? I face this question about once every three months. I find that due to my moderate makeup collection size I need to comb through things and purge ever so often. I am not one to keep a ton of makeup that I am not using.
There are the products that I don’t like, the ones that I use to use but don’t use anymore, and the products that I forgot that I purchased. Being in the beauty industry, I tend to collect makeup, but I will say that most of my collection is high-end products. I find I have given most of my drugstore products away. I just seem to compare them to high-end products that are better quality in my opinion that I tend to let them go easier than I do my high-end products.
I fully believe that if you are not using a product, or have not used it within the past few months then it needs to go. Also due to having sensitive skin, I am not able to use many drugstore foundations due to them causing breakouts. These are products that I tend to giveaway the quickest. I am fortunate to have family members that love taking these products off my hands.
I also find that the main thing that people forget about is the expiration of makeup. Yes, makeup expires! I find the one product that you need to get rid of the quickest is mascara. Anything liquid or cream based tends to go bad quicker, however, powder products are safe to use for years.
