Hey guys,
In the aftermath of all of the jack-o-lanters that were floating around, I noticed that some were decaying too quickly. I am sure that is due to the weather conditions that plagued farmers this year. I was hell bent on having my pumpkin survive this year. I decided to do a little experiment to test what would work. Here are 4 steps to preserving your pumpkin.
1) Carve Pumpkin
2) Mix a bleach solution of 1 tablespoon of bleach 2 cups water & mix it.
3) Take bleach mixture & wipe the inside & lid of the Pumpkin.
4) Take an coat the entire inside and all the cut outs with Vaseline.
That’s it! It completely worked, I found that even after 5 days there was no decay. Now let me explain why this works. It is very simple, the bleach mixture kills all the bacteria that causes decay. The Vaseline seals the moisture in and prevents it from drying out. If you think about it..it truly makes sense. I hope this helps!
