Redness is something that I find many women deal with, including myself. Did you know that a common cause of redness is actually Rosacea, an inflammatory skin condition? Women find themselves dealing with this more than men. I am someone that deals with some redness and I fully understand what issue it can be. I also find that when I am doing makeup on clients I come across this as well and sometimes struggle with color correction.
The most common sympton of rosacea is persistent facial redness, and in fact 24% of those that suffer with rosacea say that redness was the first symptom of rosacea. Basically all that this boils down to is that the redness originates from dilated facial blood vessels due to an increased blood flow to the skin. This increase causes the face to appear red. Why break up with your makeup?
Can facial redness be treated? Is it common to cover up the redness rather than seek treatment? Yes to both of these! If you have been covering up your facial redness instead of treating it, don’t worry you are not alone. Over 4 in 5 (82%) of rosacea suffereres have used cosmetic products to cover the redness. I am absolutely included in this percentage! There is a treatment that you can use to correct this called Mirvaso Topical Gel, 0.33%. Mirvaso is the first and only gel specifically developed and proven to reduce the persistent facial redness of rosacea.
The facts…(Statistics provided by Galderma Laboratories, L.P.)
65% of rosacea sufferers wear makeup to work compared to only 35% of Americans who don’t have rosacea
Just over half of Americans (53%) wear makeup, compared to over 77% of rosacea sufferers
51% say they skip the dermatologist because they are worried about the cost of treatment, BUT…
On average, rosacea sufferers spend $36 on a single non-prescription product that promises to hide or cover-up facial redness
Mirvaso:
Has proven results that were reviewed by the FDA for safety and efficacy
Depending on your insurance, prescription copays may be as low as $25 and go up from there
I admit that sometimes covering up redness can be not only frustrating, but also costly. Rosacea sufferers are likely to be more self-conscious and wear makeup more frequently. Finding a product that will work has seemed like a dream in the past.
Can you see fast results with Mirvaso? Yes, Mirvaso is an easy to use daily gel that provides quick results and up to 12 hour durability. My advice is to stop concealing and start treating, break up with your makeup today!
